Tallow Beach stretches all the way from underneath the Cape Byron Lighthouse to Suffolk Park. Being such a large stretch of beach, the locals have a few different names for the areas along Tallow Beach… including – ‘Cosy Corner’ which is the left hand, point break nestled right underneath The Lighthouse, ‘Dolphins’ which is the section of beach stretching from Beachcomber Drive to Suffolk Park and ‘Suffolk’ which is the dog friendly part of Tallow Beach. ‘Cosy Corner’ – A well know short boarders, left hand point break. A popular beach with Byron Bay locals and a great place to spend the day when there is a northerly wind. ‘Dolphins’ – A quiet and secluded area of Tallow Beach, where you can escape the crowds. ‘Suffolk’ (dog friendly) – Majority of the Suffolk Park end of Tallow Beach is dog friendly (look out for the signs). A great place to escape the Byron Bay crowds and spend the day on the beach with the whole family.
The Byron Style Surfing team are there to share the secrets to surfing and make it a fun day for all. They select between Clarkes, Belongil and Tallow Beaches depending on the weather conditions and the… best place for learners.
A long stretch of beach to the left of the Byron CBD. The majority of this beach is dog friendly, so is a great place to spend the day with the whole family. Also home to the popular surfing and snorkelling… spot, known as ‘The Wreck’. The SS Wollongbar ran ashore in storms in 1921, after being mostly stripped for her parts the frame remains and has become a beautiful marine ecosystem, where you can snorkel and see turtles or in the right conditions catch a wave. There are also, numerous banks dotted all along Belongil Beach where you can often catch some surf. Belongil, is also the best place in town to watch the sunset in spectacular colours. With the sound of the local drumming circle in the background, it’s a pretty magical way to celebrate the end of a beautiful Byron Bay day.
